China has unveiled a plan outlining major targets for transportation network development in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
国务院近日发布《"十四五"现代综合交通系统发展规划。
High-speed railways will stretch to a total length of 50,000 kilometers in 2025 — up from 38,000 kilometers in 2020 — and 250-km/h routes are expected to cover 95 percent of cities with populations above 500,000, per the document released by the State Council.
根据规划，高速铁路的营业里程将从2020年的3.8万公里发展到2025年的5万公里。高速铁路网主要采用250公里以上时速标准，覆盖50万以上城市95%以上。
Cities will see 72 percent of buses running on new energy, an improvement from the present 66.2 percent, and the carbon dioxide emission intensity of the transportation sector will be decreased by 5 percent.
城市新能源公交车的比例将从66.2%提高到72%，二氧化碳排放强度将降低5%。
In 2025, grain, energy and ore transportation safety in major channels will have a stronger guarantee, and international logistics supply chains will be better protected.
粮食、能源、矿石等物资运输安全更有保障，国际物流供应链安全能力不断提高。
Looking to 2035, the plan aims to build "1-2-3 circles" for passenger trips and the transportation of goods.
展望2035年，"全国123出行交通圈"和"全球123快货物流圈"基本形成。

To consolidate its poverty elimination achievements, China will strive to ensure at least 30 million people who have been lifted out of poverty are employed this year, a senior official said on Tuesday. In 2021, some 31.45 million people lifted out of poverty found jobs, said Liu Huanxin, deputy chief of the Office of the Central Rural Work Leading Group and head of the National Rural Revitalization Administration. That number is 1.26 million more than the 2020 level, Liu said, pledging efforts to achieve even better results this year.
1月18日，中央农办副主任、国家农村振兴局刘焕新在视频会议上表示，2021年扶贫人口就业规模达到3145万，比去年增加126万。2022年要继续巩固扶贫攻坚成果，确保年度全国扶贫人口就业规模超过3000万，力争比2021年增加。
To that end, Liu said work will be done to boost labor service cooperation between provinces, cities and counties, develop characteristic industries, provide public welfare jobs in rural areas and support entrepreneurship and flexible employment.
刘焕新表示，要深化省际劳动合作，探索市县劳动合作，带动就业，发展农村公益岗位，扩大就业，支持自主创业灵活就业。

China's digital yuan transactions hit nearly 87.57 billion yuan at the end of 2021, as the country ramped up research and pilot use of the central bank's digital currency. A total of 261 million personal wallets for the digital yuan had been opened, and the number of pilot scenarios had exceeded 8.08 million, said Zou Lan, an official with the People's Bank of China, at a news conference Tuesday.
1月18日，中国人民银行金融市场司司长邹澜在新闻发布会上表示，中国稳步推进数字人民币研发试点，截至2021年12月31日，数字人民币试点场景已超过808万个，累计个人钱包2.61亿个，交易金额近875.7亿元。
He said the central bank would continue promoting research and development of the digital fiat currency, or the e-CNY, and further deepen pilot use of e-CNY in retail services, government services and other scenarios.
邹澜表示，下一步，中国人民银行将继续稳步推进数字人民币研发试点，进一步深化零售交易、政府服务等场景数字人民币试点使用。
